Was born in Marienburg in 1275 as the illegitimate 3rd child of Hartmann von Helbrungen, Grand Master of the Teutonic Order from 1274-1283. As the bastard son, he was given little respect from either his father or his father's wife who he refused to ever call "Mother". At the age of ten he ran away from "home" and by sheer luck he encountered his biological mother and stayed with her for the last seven years of her life; she was the poor widow of a Blacksmith, and thus she was able to teach him just the smallest of basic smithery to eek out a small living that barely paid for food. At 17 when his mother died, he sold the house and shop, and left to find his fortune elsewhere after buying himself a single sword. Travelling to the North he encountered a group of truly rugged mercenaries that any man who dared lift a sword was terrified of. And when he met these mercenaries in a bar and saw how well they drunk to top off their impressive fighting skills he approached their Alpha, the mighty Kaliban, and humbly asked if he may join the glorious ranks of the Wolfpack.
